Shared Services: case studies in collaboration

A day after some of the wildest and windiest weather seen in Scotland, CILIPS CPD welcomed a near capacity crowd to Dundee to learn more about shared services. Celebrating our luck that the event had not been organised to take place the day before when all trains in Scotland were cancelled, we said ‘hello’ to delegates in a venue new to us all.
The DDEC on the campus of Dundee University proved a popular and comfortable venue.

Proceedings were chaired expertly by Gordon Hunt of the University of West of Scotland, who is responsible for  a shared service provision on the Crichton Campus in Dumfries where theUWS academic library is shared with Glasgow Universityand Dumfries and Galloway College.

A personal view of the day has been written by CILIPS member Michael Charlton and published on IS Online which CILIPS members can access here.  All of the presentations from the day are available to view on Slideshare. Particularly popular was the presentation on the CYMAL initiative ‘Libraries Inspire’ which featured at the recent CILIPS CYMRU Conference too.

Feedback from our delegates was very positive with 87% of the audience rating their attendance as time well spent.

All in all a good event in a new and pleasant location well placed for accessibility by colleagues in the North East.
